Abstract :
This study gives information about the changes at some performance properties of silver-loaded particle coated clothing fabrics and describes process of application. Silver, as well-described active material for enhanced biological activity, electrical and thermal conductivity, is densely studied to improve its biocompatibility and reduce health risks. Thus there are some commercially available products in this issue which is based on gram-negative silver ion / calcium powder complex which resulted with reduced leaching action of silver. This technology is recently introduced to market and has been applied to clothing fabrics for the very first time by SYK Group. For this purpose, a sol-gel bath is prepared using silver-loaded calcium powders as additive and dip-coated on mid-weight viscose woven fabric samples. The samples then have been characterized in terms of electrical and thermal conductivity to highlight the easy and versatile existence of silver on fabric surface.
