Abstract :
Wounds from accidents, surgeries, burns, and chronic illnesses like diabetes pose significant medical challenges, particularly due to infectious bacteria that can form biofilms and delay healing. Nanomaterials, with their small size and large surface area, offer promising antibacterial and wound regeneration properties. Consequently, the environmentally friendly green synthesis of nanoparticles has gained interest in nanotechnology research for its effectiveness in treating various wound types. Curcumin is recognized for its anti-inflammatory and wound-healing properties, which were leveraged in this study to develop poly lactic-co-glycolic acid (PLGA) nanofibers embedded with silver nanoparticles encapsulated in curcumin. Characterization of the nanofibers was conducted using SEM, TEM, and FTIR techniques, alongside an investigation into their antibacterial activity and biodegradability. The results suggest that these PLGA nanofibers, featuring curcumin-encapsulated silver nanoparticles, hold significant potential as antimicrobial biomaterials for tissue engineering applications.
