Abstract :
In this work a conductive fabric was fabricated by the dip-coating of cotton fabric in PVA/graphite composite solution. The aim was to build the material using a straight-forward method and materials that can be easily obtained. Additionally, scalability was considered. The resulting material possessed semiconductor-level conductivity and capacitance changing with pressure applied. PVA was used as the matrix due to its water-solubility and good adhesion properties. This is important for simplifying the process while holding graphite particles in an ordered manner. Graphite is formed from sp2 hybrid structure fully consists of hexagonally bonded carbon atoms. Graphite possess decent conductivity and is readily available; thus, it was chosen for the conductive solution. The effect of film thickness was investigated. Also, Ag nanoparticles was added to a sample to investigate its effect on the conductivity. Electrical properties testing was done using a multimeter and impedance analyzer.
