Abstract :
This paper is about the examined the Modal and Polyester yarns usability in automotive textiles. Automotive manufacturers are requires high performance for automotive seat covers. Due to high performance requirement, polyester yarn is preffered for automotive seat fabrics thanks to their good mechanical properties. Polyester yarns are generally meets the autumotive testing standarts. Nowadays, automotive manufacturers are demanding to implement sustainable solutions to the automotive textiles such as seat covers, door panels, dashboards etc. According to this demand regenerated cellulose yarns are evaluated to its suitability to the automotive textiles. Regenerated cellulose yarns such as modal, viscose, lyocell can preffered for its comfort properties, for sustainable production and products and also biodegradetability. Modal, Viscose and Lyocell properties are explained. Within the scope of this study, three specimen which are different yarn compositions are produced with V bedded flat knitting machine and tested according to the automotive test standarts. Test results are evaluated.
