Abstract :
The reinforcement of the masonry and modern concrete structures has become more important in recent years. This is a preliminary study aiming to discuss the slippage issues encountered during the tensile testing of FRP carbon-based textile strips. Four different methodologies were attempted to assess the slippage problem of the material, of which three failed. In method a, an adhesive tape was used to grip the carbon fiber strip in jaws, in method b, epoxy resin was used for gripping purpose and for method c, thick plastic file material used for gripping. All these three methods used were failed causing the poor tensile results and slippage of the carbon fiber strip. Method d which was developed before in another research for the composite form material testing is used for the dry FRP carbon fiber mesh form textiles. This approach (method d) yielded successful results with the tensile stress values 207 MPa, 210 MPa and 214 MPa and tensile strain values was %2.5, %2.6 and % 2.8, respectively.
