Abstract :
Following the increasing significance of approaches related to sustainability, especially in recent years, the preparation of polymer composites with improved mechanical properties, particularly those that are recyclable, has gained importance. In this context, the preparation of self-reinforced polymer composites, which is an important method, and the investigation of their basic mechanical properties have been conducted. Within this scope, a high melt flow index polypropylene (PP) suitable for injection molding was prepared in the form of higher melting point fibers, and it was mixed with PP in different ratios using melt blending methods. Tensile and impact tests were applied to the obtained samples. The analysis results showed that by adding PP chopped fibers to the molten PP phase, both the elastic modulus and impact strength values could be enhanced. Additionally, it was observed during the study that production conditions and process parameter selections have a significant impact on the final product.
