Abstract :
Poly (3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly (styrene sulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) has attracted attention in smart textile applications due to its relatively high electrical conductivity, ease of manufacturing, water dispersibility, environmental stability, and commercial availability. Several methods such as impregnation, coating, dyeing, printing, and polymerization of the monomers onto fabrics are used to apply PEDOT:PSS to the textiles. Energy harvesting and storage devices, sensors, actuators, and antennas have been developed with PEDOT:PSS-based conductive fabrics. In this study, cotton interlock knitted fabrics impregnated by PEDOT:PSS inks were prepared and compared to PEDOT:PSS films prepared by drop-casting method in terms of electrical conductivity. The highest conductivity obtained for PEDOT:PSS impregnated cotton interlock knitted fabrics was 1.578 S/m which is promising for use in thermoelectric textile applications.
