Abstract :
With the increase in environmental pollution, studies on the limitation of fossil resources and the use of sustainable resources are increasing day by day. In this context, the use of natural fiber reinforced polymer composites in many areas such as automotive, aerospace, transportation, construction and textiles is among the priorities. D-limonene and epoxy in the composite material were crosslinked separately. Then, different amounts of banana tree fibers were incorporated into D-limonene /epoxy matrix. Optical microscope analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) analysis, tensile tests were performed on the produced new biocomposites. Optical microscope images of biocomposites indicated agglomeration in case of various size of BTF. FT-IR spectra of the samples showed some new peak differences were observed in resulting biocomposite material. The presence of BTF in the biocomposites resulted in localized agglomeration. The studies are ongoing, and in the following studies, thermal properties with a flame retardant material will be examined and mechanical tests will be performed again.
