Abstract :
Aging, unhealthy living conditions, stress, and environmental pollution anticipate the raise of the morbidity and mortality rates due to diseases in the upcoming years. Early diagnosis of diseases and timely initiation of treatments are vital in reducing mortality rates [1][2][3]. Scientists are working on improving current techniques and design new methods for detecting and analyzing genetic molecules linked to diseases [4]. Electrochemical techniques are viewed as promising tools for analyzing genetic molecules because they offer easy sample preparation and implementation, and are considered cost-effective, requiring fewer consumables, and are well-suited for kit development [5]. The combination of electrochemical analysis and electrospinning technique with an efficient catalyst can enhance the research convergence in the biosensing and nanotechnology field [6]. In order to combine both graphitic and high specific surface area properties, carbon nanofibers could have promising future in miRNA biosensor applications. In this regard, PAN based electrospun nanofibers were prepared with addition of hemoglobin into as-spun precursor nanofibers.
