Abstract :
Acoustic panels are specialized constructions designed to improve the acoustic qualities of enclosed spaces like meeting rooms, classrooms, and concert halls by reducing sound reflections and noise levels. They are typically mounted on walls and ceilings and consist of multilayered structures with sound-absorbing materials on both sides, often featuring aesthetically pleasing fabric surfaces. The sound absorption capacity of these panels relies on their porous structure, where sound is absorbed through frictional resistance within the pores. However, excessive adhesive use and improper lamination methods can close the pores, decreasing sound absorption. This study explores the impact of spray adhesive quantity on the bond strength and sound absorption of polyester woven fabric-based acoustic panels. The use of a spraying technique for adhesive application is considered beneficial as it allows for efficient bonding over larger areas with less risk of clogging the panel's sound-absorbing pores.
