Abstract :
There is increasing interest in using lattice cores in the design of sandwich structures due to their reduced weight and improved mechanical properties. In recent years, cellular structures have also been frequently used as the core material of sandwich composites. The oldest and most widely used of these structures is the honeycomb core structure inspired by nature. In addition to the traditional honeycomb structure, auxetic structure types can also be used as core materials. Auxetic cellular structures are materials with negative Poisson's ratio that have some unique and improved mechanical properties compared to other conventional cellular materials. Traditional methods used in the production of the core material used in sandwich structures have many limitations for structures with different geometries. Additive manufacturing (AM) is a rapidly expanding advanced manufacturing technology that enables high-accuracy and low-cost production of physical models and complex geometric structures. Three-dimensional printers have supported the realization of many scientific researches with their ability to produce different and complex structures, as well as the ease of use of thermoplastic materials. Recently, research continues to be carried out on three-dimensional printers in order to find solutions to the needs in the sector and to ensure higher production efficiency. In this study, for the development of auxetic composite materials, auxetic and non-auxetic structures were produced using the melt deposition modeling method and their mechanical properties were examined.
