Abstract :
This study examines the manufacturing of sewing threads used in the sewing of FIBC fabrics from recycled plastic resources. In line with the increasing importance of recycling technologies and sustainability goals, the focus is on the reuse of plastic waste. In this context, the usability of recycled plastic resources in industrial applications was attempted to be increased and sewing threads manufactured from recycled polypropylene (rPP) material were compared with currently used sewing threads in terms of flexibility, strength and usage. In sewing thread manufacturing, separate studies were carried out in the low (170-210 °C) and high (220-260 °C) temperature ranges and the results were monitored with MFI measurements. The best results were obtained in the low temperature range with samples where primary and secondary antioxidants were used together. Sewing threads made from rPP have been found to meet quality parameters such as denier, tenacity and elongation at break.
