Abstract :
Color fastness refers to a dye or pigment's resistance to color change from sunlight, washing, and other factors. This study investigated the color fastness of fluorescent pigments on 100% cellulosic fabrics. The fabrics were pretreated with a commercial cationic agent to improve fastness properties before dyeing using the exhaust dyeing method. The effect of this pretreatment on fastness properties was studied at different dyeing process conditions: temperature, duration, and pH. The obtained results indicate that using pretreatment with 8 % of the applied cationic agent increase fastness notes of cotton dyed with fluorescent pigment and reveals a better dyeing fastness performance to wash and to light at 50˚C, 30 min and pH of 8.
