Sustainable Production of Yarn Incorporating recycled fiber extracted from hard waste to Promote Sustainability

Abstract :
The textile industries have the biggest contribution to environmental pollution due to the excessive utilization of resources (natural) and the creation of significant amounts of waste during manufacturing operations. Now the textile industries are concentrating on sustainable activities due to environmental issues. This study investigates a sustainable approach by incorporating recycled fiber extracted from pre-consumer hard waste into producing sustainable yarn using the ring spinning technique. The study investigates the properties of yarns manufactured from a blend of virgin cotton and cotton (recycled) and also produces 100% virgin cotton yarn for comparison. The article examines the influence of recycled cotton percentage on yarn characteristics and results illustrate that the hairiness (H), irregularity (CVm%), and imperfections index (IPI) of yarns are more but elongation% and strength are less than 100% virgin cotton yarn. Statistical analysis applies One-way ANOVA to evaluate the significance of variations in yarn characteristics made from the mixture of recycled cotton + 100% virgin cotton and only 100% virgin cotton. The manufactured yarns were examined in a modern weaving machine as weft yarn for fabric (denim) production and found perfect for normal production. The study focuses on reducing negative impacts on the environment of fabric (denim) manufacturing by incorporating recycled fiber to produce sustainable yarn. This research provides important insights into producing sustainable yarns integrating recycled fiber, focusing on environmental concerns.
