Abstract :
Project Motivation PLA polymer stands out as an environmentally friendly material due to its biodegradability and low carbon footprint. However, in some applications, the mechanical, thermal and fireproof properties of the polymer may be insufficient. Therefore, different methods are being investigated to increase the properties of the polymer. At this point, I decided to investigate the issue of increasing the properties of the polymer by adding Ulexite and Colemanite minerals to the polymer matrix. This research will be an important study in terms of both expanding the usage area of PLA, an environmentally friendly material, and better understanding the effect of mineral additives on polymers. In addition, this research will show the possibilities of using Boron based Ulexite and Colemanite minerals, which are important resources in our country, in different applications. Project goals: Detailed examination of the effects of adding ulexite and colemanite minerals to PLA polymer on the mechanical and thermal properties of the polymer. Comparison of the effects of adding different amounts of minerals on the properties of the polymer. Examination of the effects of the addition of minerals on the crystallization process of the polymer. Investigation of the effects of the addition of minerals on the fireproof properties of the polymer. Examination of the effects of the addition of minerals on the processability of the polymer. Evaluating the results and presenting recommendations for industrial applications.
