Abstract :
The aim of this study is to examine the cross-link density of EPDM rubber mixture depending on the vulcanization time using the Mooney-Rivlin equation according to the stress-strain method. EPDM rubber vulcanized at different times at (5 min, 10 min, 15 min and 20 min). According to the strength data obtained by the stress-strain method of EPDM rubber vulcanized for different periods of time, the optimum vulcanization time was determined according to the cross-link density obtained by calculating with the Mooney-Rivlin equation. As the vulcanization time increased after 10 minutes, a decrease in cross-link density was observed. After the optimum vulcanization period, breaks or deteriorations may occur in the cross-links in rubbers. For this reason, a decrease in the physical and chemical properties of the rubber material may occur, and rubber reversion may occur. As a result, when cross-link densities at different vulcanization times were examined, the optimum vulcanization time was determined as 10 minutes.
