Production of conductive glass fabrics via Ag Np photodeposition onto ZnO ALD coated fibers

Abstract :
Fiber and fabric reinforcement materials have huge pieces in industrial composite fields. In addition to mechanical performance, other functional properties such as conductivity are also among the desired properties in composites. In the study, the aim was to improve the conductivity of glass fiber fabrics used as reinforcement materials in composite materials with the combination of two different methods. E-type glass fiber fabrics in plain weave type were first coated with ZnO homogeneously and at the desired thickness with the ALD system. After Ag Np's were formed by photodeposition with silver salt aqua solutions under UV light on ZnO coated fabrics. The products were characterized by XRD and their electrical properties were measured with I-V analyser. Although different resistivity values were measured, the lowest resistivity value was measured as 0.005 Ω.cm. This study shows that the photodeposition method is a method that can make planar coatings and creating conductive paths by growing silver nanoparticles.
